A new program for pharmacies to
help their patients with diabetes and generate income by getting
reimbursed for the pharmacist’s knowledge, not just once, but 4
times a year
With the advent and introduction of
a new diagnostic tool, the A1cNow, the instant HbA1c test,
pharmacists can offer their diabetic patients a new service. The
A1cNow is a instant, disposable 8 minute test for HbA1c. Because
the HbA1c is an average blood sugar over 90 days, you can now have
the patient fill out a form with necessary information prior to
the appointment and with the results of the A1cNow test you can
discuss how their diabetes care is doing in just a few minutes.
Here is how it works. We supply you
with the A1cNow monitors and necessary forms.
The campaign is built around the
theme "Do you know your number?"
With every prescription for a drug
for diabetes a brochure goes to the patient with a comment from
the tech or pharmacist about your A1cNow program.

Scripts of what to say are provided
for the tech and pharmacist. If they are interested, they can fill
out the form and return it to the pharmacy. The pharmacist sets up
an appointment for the return visit.
At the appointed time you would
perform the A1cNow test and during the 8 minute wait time you
could go over their present therapy. After the 8 minutes, you will
have the results of their average blood glucose over 90 days and
will be able to tell them exactly how their diabetes care is
doing. Using the ADA recommendations of normal being 4-6% and
anything over 8% needs an immediate change and anything above 7%
would require minor changes in their diabetes management.
A copy of the information is then
sent to the patients physician letting him know of the results and
that you can provide this service to all of his patients prior to
their appointments with the physician.
The average HbA1c in the US is over
9.4%. Use the A1cNow and educate and motivate your patients to
better diabetes care. .
This program can also help build
relationships with the doctors, by providing them with one of the
forms that indicates their patients consult with you and their
HbA1c results. If you have a diabetes education program, the
A1cNow is a great way to promote it.
The test is also billable to
Medicare and insurance companies with a doctor’s order, in most
states.
You can order a Kit of 10 A1cNow
